Troop Elections are Tonight!

Reminder that troop elections will be held at the troop meeting this evening.

It is still not too late to get on the ballot for SPL, Scribe or Quartermaster! If you want to be considered for one of these positions, you need to email Mr. G by noon today.

All candidates are expected to give a short speech (no more than 2 minutes) why they want to run for that position, why they are qualified, etc. If you cannot attend the meeting tonight, send your speech to Mr. G and someone will read it for you.

Good luck!

T125 Restart Town Hall Presentation

Attached is the Troop 125 Restart presentation that was covered at the Town Hall last night.  Many thanks to Pete Arango for putting it together and taking on the responsibility of Restart Chair.

Please take the time to review the slides, previous blog and email that you should have received. They contain important information you need to ensure your Scout can participate in face-to-face troop activities.

T125 Restart Virtual Town Hall Meeting

The BSA has provided guidance on restarting Scouting activities.  The Troop 125 leadership has taken that guidance and developed a plan for restarting Scouting activities within the troop.  We will hold a virtual Zoom Town Hall meeting tomorrow in place of the usual troop meeting to review the plan and answer any questions you may have.  Please attend this meeting so you understand what is required and how the troop will move forward.

Topic: T125 Restart

Time: Tuesday, July 14. 07:00 PM

Summer Camp and Other Activity Cancellations

Troop 125,

The Michigan Crossroads Council has made the difficult decision to cancel Summer Camp for the 2020 season due to the current pandemic.  In addition, all scheduled non-virtual activities, in-person group training and cabin rentals have been canceled until further notice. This would include NYLT and the OA Ordeal.  Here is a link to the official announcement from the Council:

Temporary Modified Rank Requirements

Troop 125,

The BSA has implemented several temporary changes to allow Scouts to complete rank advancement requirements using video conferencing during this challenging time. Even when using video conferencing, all virtual campouts and activities should consist of as many elements found on a normal outdoor campout or activity as possible. The most significant difference is that patrol or troop members are not all in the same location.

Troop Guidance

Troop 125,

I hope you and your families are all doing well during this unusual period in our country’s history.  As with all challenges presented to Americans, this in the end will only serve to make us stronger.

Your Patrol Leaders' Council is busy working on organizing activities that can be done virtually to keep the Troop in touch and we are still planning on attending Summer Camp and Philmont in July and Mackinac in August. I wanted to provide you all some guidance on how to proceed with Scouting activities during this time.
