It's true! Winter is coming and so is the ski trip! Save the 1/4-5-6/2019 weekend date since this comes up first thing in the new year.
This is one of the few T125 events where parents, siblings, families can come and share in the fun! The permission slip and signup will be out later in the month. We try to get all of the paperwork and preparations done BEFORE the troop takes Christmas holiday break so that we can enjoy the time off, then hit the slopes on the first weekend of 2019!
We stay nearby to Caberfae at Center Lake Bible Camp that has a bunkhouse for the scouts/leaders and simple, separate hotel room like cabins for family members that want to come along. The cabins vary and some are multi-room for families. There's a dining hall where we will have our meals (buffet breakfasts and dinners with a lunch voucher for use at Caberfae) and a game room plus a cool lighted tubing hill (complete with tubes) when we're done skiing! Cost is roughly $120 per person and includes lodging for two nights, all meals, lift ticket for full day/nite Saturday and equipment rental (boots, skis/poles or snowboard, helmet). Non skiing adults and siblings can stay at the camp at a reduced rate. A beginners ski or snowboard lesson with the group is only $8 per person! Earn "Snow Sports" merit badge!
Have your own gear? No problem! We take the troop's smaller "mini-me" trailer to load in all of our skis and gear. While the troop mostly returns home on Sunday morning, some families take advantage of heavily discounted Sunday lift tickets/rental and return later in the afternoon. For parents and family members who are not skiers, cross country skiing and gear rental is also available.

Watch for a blog before Thanksgiving with the permission slip and all of the details on how to sign up!
Never skied before? This would be a great way to try it! You might be hooked since: "It is better to get outside and ride one ski lift than to curse the winter!"
