Troop 125 is planning a high adventure trip in the summer of 2020 to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico! It may seem like a long way off, but planning starts now!
Philmont is the BSA's premier High Adventure base with over 23,000 Scouts and Scouters visiting each year. The ranch provides an unforgettable adventure in backpacking across 214 square miles of high country trails and offers interactive programs at its 35 staffed camps that feature the best of the Old West such as horseback riding, gold panning, chuckwagon dinners, blacksmithing, burrow packing, mine tours and interpretive history and exciting challenges such as rock climbing and multiple shooting opportunities. It’s a memorable experience that will be remembered for a lifetime!
The crews at Philmont are a maximum of 12 people with a maximum of 4 adults per crew. The number of crews we can field will be dependent on the number of both Scouts and adults that sign up. Adult participation is critical to the success of this trek! Crews will be filled on a “First Come – First Served” basis. We will add crews as needed based on the deposits received and number of adults that sign up.
WHO CAN GO:
- All Eagles, Raptors, Knight Wings, Tomahawks/Patriots (must be First Class at time of step off)
- Parents/Adults 21 and older (will need to be registered with the BSA)
- Scouts between 18 & 21 that may have aged out at step off (will need to be registered with the BSA)
There will be an informational session at the November 27th troop meeting for both Scouts and parents. A parent’s guide and payment schedule will also be available by that time. A deposit will be due no later than the December 18th troop meeting to secure a crew position.
Don’t miss this amazing opportunity! This will possibly be the last chance you will get to go to Philmont with the troop! Want to know more about Philmont before the troop meeting? Check out their website here:
See you on the trail in 2020!
